Objective

Keep the ball moving around a triangle to practice weight and direction of passes.

Equipment

  • balls
  • cones

Instructions

  1. 1

Place 3 cones in a triangle, 7 yards on each side. One player at each cone.

  2. 2

Player A passes to Player B. Player B passes to Player C. Player C passes to Player A.

  3. 3

Always pass in the same direction (clockwise) for 60 seconds.

  4. 4

After the whistle, switch to counter-clockwise.

  5. 5

Challenge: complete 10 consecutive passes without the ball leaving the triangle.

Coaching Points

  • Open your body to receive — don't stand square-on.
  • As soon as you receive, look where you're passing next.
  • The pass should arrive right at the cone, not short or long.

Age Notes

U8

Use colored cones and assign each player a color so they remember where to pass. Walk through the rotation once before starting.

Variations

  • Add a fourth player in the middle trying to intercept passes.
  • Increase to 10-yard sides as players improve.
