Objective
Use a rotational step over the ball to unbalance a defender.
Instructions
- 1
Approach a cone slowly with the ball at your feet.
- 2
Circle one foot over and around the ball in a rotational motion without touching it.
- 3
Push the ball in the opposite direction with the outside of the other foot.
- 4
Do 10 reps each side.
Coaching Points
- ✓ The step-over must be convincing — exaggerate the arc of the foot.
- ✓ Keep the ball still during the step-over so the touch away is clean.
- ✓ Burst of speed after the touch is essential.
Variations
- → Double step-over before the push away.
- → Perform against a live passive defender.
