Objective

Dribble at full speed in a straight line while maintaining control.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Place two cones 30 yards apart.

  2. 2

    Sprint with the ball from one cone to the other, pushing it slightly ahead with each stride.

  3. 3

    Walk back as recovery. Repeat 8 times.

  4. 4

    Focus on touching the ball every two to three strides.

Coaching Points

  • Push the ball forward with the laces or outside of the foot — not the toe.
  • Keep your head up to see where you are going.
  • The ball should feel like an extension of your stride, not a separate action.

Age Notes

U8

Shorten the distance to 15 yards and celebrate every clean run.

Variations

  • Race a partner side-by-side for competitive pressure.
  • Add a U-turn at the far cone to combine speed dribbling with a tight turn.
