Objective

Transfer the ball laterally from one foot to the other at speed to slip past a tight defender.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Stand with the ball at your feet, cone 1 yard in front.

  2. 2

    Push the ball sideways with the inside of the right foot, then immediately collect with the inside of the left foot.

  3. 3

    Accelerate past the cone in the new direction.

  4. 4

    Do 10 reps each direction, building to full speed.

Coaching Points

  • Both touches must be with the inside of the foot — outside touches kill the speed.
  • The transfer must be one fluid motion, not two separate actions.
  • Stay low through the move; upright posture slows the execution.

Variations

  • Perform against a live defender standing directly in front.
  • Chain two croquetas to go back the other way.
