Objective

Master the elastico — a rapid outside-then-inside touch that snaps the ball in the opposite direction.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Place a cone as a standing defender.

  2. 2

    Push the ball to the outside with the outside of the foot as if going wide.

  3. 3

    In the same motion, flick the ball back the other way with the inside of the same foot.

  4. 4

    Accelerate past the cone. Do 8 reps each foot.

Coaching Points

  • Both touches are with the same foot — outside then inside in one snap.
  • The outside touch must look convincing before the flick back.
  • Speed of the snap is everything — slow elasticos are easily read.

Variations

  • Perform at pace with a live defender reacting.
  • Chain with a shot after the move.
