Objective

Drop the shoulder to send a defender the wrong way.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Approach a cone at a jog.

  2. 2

    Dip your shoulder strongly to one side, then push the ball to the opposite side.

  3. 3

    Accelerate past the cone.

  4. 4

    Complete 10 reps each direction.

Coaching Points

  • The shoulder drop must be committed — a half-hearted dip fools nobody.
  • Keep the ball close before the feint so the touch away is controlled.
  • Eyes up to "look" in the fake direction for extra deception.

Age Notes

U8

Practise the shoulder drop without a ball first so the movement feels natural.

Variations

  • Combine with a step-over for a double feint.
  • Use in a 1v1 live situation.
