Objective

Improve change-of-direction speed and foot coordination through a timed cone circuit.

Equipment

  • cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Set 6 cones in a zigzag pattern, 2 yards apart.

  2. 2

    Sprint through the zigzag, touching each cone with alternating hands.

  3. 3

    Return jogging, then sprint again.

  4. 4

    Complete 6 rounds. Rest 30 seconds between rounds.

  5. 5

    Record time for each sprint and aim to beat it.

Coaching Points

  • Drive off the outside foot when changing direction.
  • Stay on your toes — flat-footed contact slows you down.
  • Lean into each turn without crossing your feet.

Age Notes

U8

Use larger cones spaced 3 yards apart. Time is less important than correct footwork.

Variations

  • Add a ball — dribble through instead of running.
