Objective

Improve foot speed, coordination, and dynamic balance.

Equipment

  • Agility Ladder

Instructions

  1. 1

    Lay a 10-rung agility ladder flat on the ground.

  2. 2

    Run through with one foot per box (linear run), focusing on quick ground contact.

  3. 3

    Progress to two feet per box (in-in-out-out pattern).

  4. 4

    Rest 30 seconds between each run. Complete 3 runs of each pattern.

Coaching Points

  • Land on the balls of your feet — heels should barely touch.
  • Pump your arms in time with your feet.
  • Eyes forward, not down at the ladder.

Age Notes

U8

Walk through the pattern first so players understand the footwork before adding speed.

U10

Challenge players to beat their own time — use a stopwatch for motivation.

Variations

  • Add a ball dribble after exiting the ladder.
  • Lateral shuffle through the ladder for a different movement pattern.
