Objective

Win the ball with a firm, well-timed block tackle.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Attacker and defender face each other 2 yards apart with the ball between them.

  2. 2

    Attacker tries to push the ball forward; defender plants a firm foot through the ball to block.

  3. 3

    Neither player chases — reset and repeat. 10 reps each role.

Coaching Points

  • Strike through the centre of the ball, not the attacker's foot.
  • Keep your weight over the ball on contact.
  • Non-tackling foot planted firmly for balance.

Variations

  • Add a slow dribble approach so the defender must time the block.
