Objective

Play a square pass across the penalty area to create a tap-in opportunity.

Equipment

  • Balls
  • Cones
  • Goal

Instructions

  1. 1

A central attacker receives the ball 20 yards from goal with two wide teammates inside the box.

  2. 2

Attacker drives into the box and squares the ball across the face of goal.

  3. 3

Wide players take turns arriving at the near and back post.

  4. 4

Rotate the central player every 5 sequences.

Coaching Points

  • The square pass must be firm and along the ground.
  • Time the run to arrive as the ball is played, not before.
  • The finishing player should redirect rather than strike — the pace is already on the ball.

Variations

  • Add a goalkeeper.
  • Introduce a covering defender to make the square pass riskier.
