Objective

Improve close ball control and change of direction at speed.

Equipment

  • Ball
  • Cones

Instructions

  1. 1

    Set up 6 cones in a line, 1 yard apart.

  2. 2

    Dribble through the cones using the inside and outside of both feet.

  3. 3

    Return through the cones using the opposite foot.

  4. 4

    Aim to keep the ball within one step at all times.

Coaching Points

  • Keep the ball close — no more than one step away.
  • Use both feet equally.
  • Keep your head up between touches.

Age Notes

U8

Use bigger gaps between cones and encourage kids to "dance" the ball through.

U10

Introduce alternating feet — left cone left foot, right cone right foot.

Variations

  • Increase speed on second pass.
  • Add a gate at the end and finish with a shot.
